# What is UseDocs?

UseDocs is a hosted help‑center and AI assistant designed for SaaS founders and small teams that still handle support themselves. It keeps your documentation in sync with your code and your customers, delivering accurate answers while surfacing gaps that need new articles.

## How UseDocs Works

UseDocs operates in **two continuous loops** that feed a single review queue:

### 1. Code → Docs Loop

- **Merged pull requests** and **released versions** automatically generate proposed edits to the help‑center articles they affect.
- Every live article is **periodically checked against your codebase** to ensure it still reflects the current implementation.

### 2. Customers → Docs Loop

- When the assistant can’t answer a question, receives a **“not helpful” vote**, or an **imported support ticket** arrives, the issue is turned into a **ranked gap**.
- UseDocs drafts a new article (or an update) for each gap, ready for review.

## The Assistant

- **Answers from your own articles**, always including a link to the source.
- If the documentation doesn’t cover the query, it **explicitly says so**, turning the miss into a ranked gap for you to address.

## One Review Queue

All proposed edits—whether they come from code changes or from customer‑driven gaps—land in a **single review queue**. Nothing is published until a team member **approves** it, giving you full control over what goes live.

## Key Benefits

- **Docs that stay current** with every code change, reducing outdated information.
- **Customer‑driven content creation** ensures you’re building the articles your users actually need.
- **Transparent AI assistance** that cites sources and flags unknowns, improving trust.
- **Single approval workflow** simplifies publishing and prevents accidental changes.
- **Flexible hosting** – you can host the help center on UseDocs or keep it on your existing docs site.

## Getting Started (Quick Steps)

1. **Connect your repository** – Link the codebase that triggers the Code → Docs loop.
2. **Enable the assistant** – Set up the AI to answer from your existing articles.
3. **Configure the review queue** – Choose who will approve proposed edits.
4. **Monitor gaps** – Review ranked gaps generated from missed questions, votes, or tickets and approve drafted articles.

Once set up, UseDocs continuously monitors both your code and your customers, keeping your help center accurate and complete.
