# Why did the assistant say it couldn't answer?

> The assistant answers only from your docs, and declines rather than guessing when they don't support an answer.

The assistant answers from your docs and links the page it used. When your docs can't support an answer, it says so instead of guessing.

The question isn't lost: it becomes a gap. Questions the docs missed, "not helpful" votes, and imported tickets are grouped into ranked gaps, and each gap gets a drafted article in **Drafts** to edit, approve, or dismiss. Once you publish it, the assistant answers from it right away.

In the widget, an answer the docs couldn't give shows **Contact support**, which opens the contact form with the subject and message already written from the chat.
